Amish Farmer, Father Of Five Dies in Tractor Accident
Kalona, Iowa. — A tractor accident near here on Sept. 18 claimed the life of Chester J. Ropp, 36, Amish farmer and father of five children.
He was preparing to move used utility poles from the roadside and as he backed his tractor one wheel started into the ditch. He applied the brakes causing the tractor to whip against a pole and overturn, pinning him underneath.
Surviving are his widow, the former Annie Yoder, and five children of the home; his parents Jeff and Laura Ropp; four brothers and five sisters.
