TIRE BLOWOUT CAUSED CRASH ON HIGHWAY BETWEEN WHITEWATER AND NEWTON
Death again stalked the highway last Sunday night when Herman Ingold, 35, and his sister, Mrs. Tom Robinson, 27, were killed in an automobile accident south of Newton. Mrs. Herman Ingold and Tom Robinson were both seriously injured. The two couples were on the way to Newton to attend the Enz-Harms wedding at the First Mennonite church when the tragedy occurred. The car crashed into a culvert as the result of a tire blowout. Both couples lived in Wichita but were on the way to Newton via Whitewater, where they had visited their relatives. The double funeral was to be held this afternoon at the Emmaus church and burial made at the Swiss cemetery. The two fatally injured were cousins of the groom, John Harms. The accident has cast a feeling of deep sorrow and sympathy over the community here and at Whitewater.

— Double funeral services for Herman J. Ingold and Gertrude Ingold Robinson, who were both fatally injured in an automobile accident on Sunday, September 25, were held last Wednesday afternoon at the Emmaus Mennonite church near Whitewater. It was one of the largest funerals ever held in the church. The services were conducted by Rev. Jacob Dirks and Rev. B. W. Harder. Arnold, Walter and Lawrence Zuercher rendered special music. Burial was made in a double grave in the cemetery of the Swiss Mennonite church, where both were members.
