RUDOLF N. RIESEN

Rudolf N. Riesen, the son Fred B. and Elisabeth (Nickel) Riesen, was born March 31, 1899, at Brudertal, Hillsboro, Kansas, and passed away in the Axtell Hospital on Sunday, May 27, at 1:55 a. m. His sickness was leukemia.

He received his catechetical instruction in 1918 and was baptized by Rev. Wm. J. Ewert June 19, 1918, and became a member of the Brudertal church.

When they moved to Hillsboro they joined the Hillsboro church in march, 1927. Later they moved to Newton and on November 6, 1942, he joined the Bethel College church.

Rudolf received his education in the Brudertal district school, two years in the Hillsboro Bible Academy and one year in Bethel College.

Since he was mechanically inclined his ambition was to work with machinery, therefore he took a course in a tractor school in Hutchinson, Kansas, which was the work he always liked. He attended church and Sunday School regularly and was especially fond of church music. On April 18, 1923, he was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Agnes Pankratz. They lived together 22 years, 1 month and 8 days.

About a year ago his health began to fail so he consulted several doctors but of no avail. Though all possible medical aid was summoned and many earnest prayers were sent to the Throne of Grace, his condition became rapidly worse and he went into his heavenly home where God Himself will wipe away all tears from his eyes and where there is no more pain nor sorrow nor dying.

He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, two children, Herold [sic Harold] and Naomi; his father, second mother, one sister, three brothers; two half-brothers, one brother-in-law, four sisters-in-law and his aged father-in-law and their families and many relatives and friends. His mother preceded him in death on November 27, 1911. Rudolph [sic Rudolf] reached the age of 46 years, 1 month and 26 days.

I do not know what God has planned
To come to me today;
I only know that He has promised me
To be my stay.
And that His hand has mapped out all the way
That I must go;
I do not know the burden ere the night,
That I must bear,
'Tis better so, lest I should faint
To see it waiting there.
