MRS. HENRY J. RICHERT

Elizabeth (Warkentin) Richert, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Janzen) Warkentin, was born on August 19, 1892, in Marion County, Kansas. She attended the Green Valley District School near Goessel, Kansas.

On June 4, 1911, she was baptized by Elder Heinrich Banman and accepted as a member into the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church. On June 4, 1918, she was married to Henry J. Richert. To this union two children, one daughter and one son, were born.

She has always had a steadfast faith in God and was always much concerned about the welfare of her family.

On Sunday evening, Jan. 11, 1959, she complained about pains in the lungs and chest. On the following morning she wished to consult a physician in hopes of securing some relief. She was admitted to the Salem Hospital in Hillsboro, Kansas on Jan. 12 where care was given her until January 23, at which time she was dismissed so that she could go to her children in Goessel, Kansas. Here she was cared for by her daughter with the assistance of the neighbors.

However, she grew weaker and her physical strength left her so that at 3:30 in the afternoon on Tuesday, Feb. 3, she passed on to her eternal rest, having reached the age of 66 years, five months and 14 days. She had shared life’s joys and sorrows with her husband for 40 years, seven months and 29 days.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Henry; one daughter, Marie Ruth Franz and her husband, Albert; one son, Jake and wife Marie; two grandchildren, Vernon and Darleen Richert; and other relatives and friends.
