14-YEAR-OLD YOUTH FATALLY HURT WHEN DRAGGED BY HORSE

Archbold, Ohio. — Funeral services were conducted at the Zion Mennonite Church here Oct. 25 for Douglas Lee Rich, 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rich who died in an unusual accident Monday, Oct. 22.

The youth and a friend, Dean Rupp, went to a farm near Archbold to ride some riding horses, as they had done a number of times. After saddling his horse, Douglas somehow became entangled in a rope attached to the saddle horn as the horse started running. He was dragged over stumps and rough ground and suffered fatal injuries.

He is survived by his parent, a younger brother and two sisters, and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvanus Lugbill.
