FARMER'S WIFE FATALLY BURNED WHEN LIGHTED LANTERN IGNITES GASOLINE

Bareville, Pa., Oct. 20. — A tragic accident happened on Saturday evening, October 14, when young Mrs. Elmer C. Rhiel was fatally burned. She tripped while carrying a can of gasoline in one hand and a lighted lantern in the other. The accident occurred just as she was ready to enter her home. She was rushed to the hospital at Lancaster but died the next day.

The funeral was held Thursday, October 19. The deceased was a member of a family of 15 children, 10 of whom are still living. Her father, David K. Glick and her grandfather, Chris S. Glick, are both ministers of the Northeast Lower Pequea district. The entire family belongs to the Old Order Amish. The entire Amish faith as well as the various other plain sects keenly sympathize with the bereaved husband and family.
