MRS. G. G. REMPEL

Maria, Mrs. G. G. Rempel, was born Dec. 8, 1879 to Abraham and Maria (Siebert) Thieszen near Henderson, Neb. and passed away on April 20, 1962 at the Henderson Nursing Home.

Mother lived in the Henderson community all her life. Her education was very limited. June 25, 1896 she was baptized by Elder Peter J. Friesen and received into the Bethesda Mennonite Church where she remained a faithful member till the Lord called her Home. On Feb. 7, 1901, she and Gerhard G. Rempel were married. To this union were born ten children of whom two preceded her in death.

Mother was never very strong, but she did her work well. In later years her path was not easy and her health not too good. As children we tried to help ease the load, but her health suffered.

On Feb. 7, 1951, our parents celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. On August 19, 1959 father passed away. Mother was sick in the hospital at the time. After father's passing she lived with the children until the Henderson Nursing Home opened Jan. 19, 1960 when she went to live there. Here she received loving care but her health again failed and she became bedfast. The last seven months or so were spent in bed.

The evening of April 20, Good Friday, she fell asleep as usual and then unnoticed she slipped away. She attained the age of 82 years, four months and 12 days.

She leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Gerhard and wife Olga of Henderson, and Jacob and wife Sarah, Lushton; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Marie, Mrs. Jacob Regier of Mt. Lake, Minn., Elisabeth, Mrs. Louis C. Wiebe, Filley, Neb., Katharine, Mrs. Henry G. Hiebner, Henderson, Anna, Mrs. Henry L. Fast, Henderson, Lena, Mrs. Thomas Hiebner, Hampton; 32 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. C. C. Peters and Mrs. Frank K. Friesen, both of Henderson; one brother, A. A. Thieszen, also of Henderson.

Preceding in death were her husband, our father; two children, Margaret and Cornelius; two grandchildren, and one son-in-law and her parents.

Funeral services were held April 23 at the Bethesda Church, with Rev. John Gaeddert, Rev. LeRoy Crossley and Rev. Paul Isaak in charge. — The Family.
