GOESSEL—John H. Reimer, 89, farmer, died today (March 5, 2004) at Bethesda Home in Goessel.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Miller Funeral Home in Goessel.

John H. Reimer

GOESSEL—John H. Reimer, 89, farmer, died Friday (March 5, 2004) at Bethesda Home in Goessel.

He was born Jan. 24, 1915, in Goessel to Henry J. Reimer and Susie Loewen.

On Sept. 14, 1940, he married Martha Schmidt, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 18, 1980, he married Luella Koehn, who preceded him in death. He had resided in Goessel since 1998.

He was a board member in the Goessel school district, Menno Township, Crossroads Co-oop, Wheat Heritage Engine Club and Alexanderwohl Church.

He was a lifetime resident of the Goessel area, active volunteer of Mennonite Historical Complex and member of Men's Quartet for many years.

Others preceding him in death were: an infant son, John Keith; two brothers, Milton and Eldon; and a sister, Rosella.

Survivors include: daughters, Carol and Donley Duerksen of Hillsboro, Janet Koehn of Newton and Dayle Reimer of San Clemente, Calif.; brothers, Wilbert and Ruth Reimer of Minneapolis, Minn., and Richard and Evelyn Reimer of rural Canton; sister, Elsie and Orville Unruh of Goessel; sister-in-law, Emile Reimer of Newton; grandchildren, Kelly Reimer, Mark Koehn and Andrew Koehn; stepchildren, Andrea and Roger Fitzwater of Springfield, Mo., Mike and Greta Koehn of Elyria, Roger and Marilyn Koehn of Newton, Karen and Bill Rostine of Springfield, Mo., and Randy Koehn and companion Mary Sypinski of Burleson, Texas; nine step-grandchildren; and two step-great-granchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a. m. Monday at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel. The Revs. Jim Dunn and Mark Wiens will officiate. Burial will be in Alexanderwohl Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with Bethesda Home.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p. m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home in Goessel. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p. m.
