LIVED AT MEADE OVER 50 YEARS

Meade, Kan. — J. A. Reimer, well-known resident of the rural community here, died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 63. He had lived in this vicinity for over 50 years.

Funeral services were conducted at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Rev. Sam H. Epp in charge. Mr. Reimer is survived by his wife, seven sons and one daughter.

JACOB A. REIMER

Jacob A. Reimer was born on Jan. 13, 1894, to Mr. and Mrs. Klaas B. Reimer near Jansen, Neb. He departed from this life to be in the presence of his Lord and Saviour on July 31, 1956, at 3: a.m., in the Meade Hospital, death resulting from a heart attack just 18 hours after having undergone a kidney-stone operation. He reached the age of 62 years, six months, and 18 days.

In 1907 he moved to Meade County, Kansas, together with his parents and the rest of the family. Soon after this he accepted Christ as his Saviour and was baptized on July 5, 1915, and received into the Mennonite church. On Sept. 9 of the same year he was united in marriage to Katherine L. Classen with whom he shared the joys and sorrows of life for 42 years. The Lord blessed this union with ten children, two of whom preceded the father in death, Thomas in 1941 at the age of 14, and Matilda in 1954 at the age of 22. One grandson, Daell Allen Reimer, also preceded him.

Together with his wife he joined the Emmanuel Mennonite church of Meade on April 16, 1944.

He enjoyed good health until recently when a major operation was found to be necessary. His verbal expressions to visitors and loved ones prior to the operation indicated clearly his trust in his Lord and perfect peace in Him "who doeth all things well." At 3:45 a. m. on Tuesday, the day following his operation, after he had spent a comparatively good day and part of a night, he suddenly suffered a heart attack and quietly breathed his last.

The family is blessed at the concern the husband and father had for their spiritual welfare. his favorite song was "In the Sweet By-and-By." We firmly believe that he is in that "land that is fairer than day, "where Jesus is and where our loved ones are who have gone before.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine, and the following eight children: Ben and Pete of Meade, John of Plains, Dave of Meade, Margaret, Mrs. John F. Loewen of Meade, Aaron of Hillsboro, Herman and Erwin of the home; five daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, and 16 grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, C. A. Reimer, and five sisters, Marie, Mrs. John L. Classen of Hillsboro, Elizabeth, Mrs. H. f. Isaac, Agnes, Mrs. Henry L. Friesen, Helen A. Reimer of Meade, and Margaret, Mrs. Cornie Siemens of Reedley, Calif.

Although we mourn for him, we are looking for a glorious reunion in the presence ofour blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

We wish to thank our many friends and loved ones for their prayers, visits, and other acts of kindness extended to us and our departed loved one during his stay in the hospital and in our bereavement. — The Bereaved Family.
