text of obituary:

HENRY F. REIMER

Henry F. Reimer was born April 28, 1891, at Inman, Kansas and passed away August 8, 1955, at 11:40 p. m. at the age of 64 years, three months and 10 days. He was the son of the late Jacob B. and Katherina Kliewer Reimer.

He received his elementary education in the former Big Lake school and attended the Hoffnungsau preparatory school for several years. Later he was able to attend college at Manhattan where he took a short course in Agriculture.

On July 9, 1911, he was baptized upon his confession of faith by Rev. Abraham Ratzlaff and became a member of the Hoffnungsau church. Later when the Inman Mennonite church was organized he be came a charter member and remained its true and faithful servant until his death.

He was united in holy matrimony to Katie Baergen on May 2, 1914. They shared life’s joys and sorrows for 41 years. This union was blessed with eleven children, six sons and five daughters. One son, Eldo, preceded him in death in infancy.

He spent his entire life in the Inman community where he took an active part in not only church activities but also in many civic activities. For years he served as secretary of the school board and was active in many progressive and worthwhile community projects. The church and conference were always dear to his heart; he served as church secretary for more than 25 years, resigning this winter because of failing health. He will be missed by the men’s Sunday School Class which he taught for years. He served in man church committees through the years but his greatest desire was that some day the congregation would be able to erect a new edifice so that future generations would have a beautiful place to worship our Lord and Master whom he loved and served. This wish was granted and he was able to worship in the new church on Dedication Sunday March 13, 1955.

He took seriously ill the following week and on Saturday he was taken to a Newton hospital and later to Wichita where the best available medical aid was administered. At times his condition improved and there was hope for recovery. However, the Lord saw fit to take his servant home Monday night, Aug. 8, at the Bethel Deaconess hospital in Newton. It was determined that his illness and death was caused by a brain tumor.

His wise counsel will be missed by the family and friends but we tender him his well earned rest and feel confident that call “Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter into thy reward,” has been his.

He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife, Katie; five sons, Harry E., Paul J., and John H. of Inman, Ernest M. of Hutchinson, and Hugo B. of Wichita; five daughters, Ruth, Mrs. Elmer Wiens, and Mildren, both of Inman, Emma, Mrs. Herb Schierling, of McPherson, Gertrued, Mrs. Chas. Sigler, of Derby, and Rosella, Mrs. Dave Regier, of Towner, Colo.; 28 grandchildren, one preceding him in death in infancy; five daughters-in-law, four sons-in-law; one brother George of Larned; two sisters, Mrs. P. D. Gaeddert, Newton, and Mrs. Diet. Regier, Moundridge; his aged mother-in-law, Mrs. Anna Baergen, Hutchinson; and a host of other relatives and friends. — The Beraved [sic] Family.
