• Funeral services for Elmer Reimer, 38, of Wichita were held Saturday afternoon at the Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church there, Rev. Paul L. Goering in charge. A former resident of the Hesston community, Mr. Reimer died Oct. 10 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Wichita. He was employed as a pressman for a Wichita printing firm. Survivors include his widow, the former Anna Schmidt, one daughter and four sons, all of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry E. Reimer of Hesston; four sisters and one brother. He was a brother of Mrs. Otto Eck, Mrs. Howard Wiebe, and Edward Reimer, all of Newton.

ELMER REIMER

Elmer Reimer was born on Oct. 24, 1924, near Whitewater, Kan., the second child and eldest son of Henry E. and Maria (Hildeband) Reimer.

He attended public school in Isabel, Pratt County, Kan., and the Walton, Kan. High School.

He served in the U. S. Navy from June 1943 to December 1945. Following his discharge from the Navy he came to Wichita and began working for Shaffer Printing Co. Later he was employed by Duke Printing Co. and by Grit Printing Co., both in Wichita, as a pressman.

In February 1958 he was diagnosed as having multiple sclerosis and had to stop work in September of that year.

He was baptized upon confession of faith in Jesus Christ on June 9, 1946, in the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church by Rev. Phil A. Wedel.

He was married to Anna Marie Schmidt on June 23, 1946, in the First Mennonite Church of Lehigh, Kan. by Rev. B. H. Janzen. They united with the Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church in Wichita on Dec. 11, 1949, where he remained a member until his death on Oct. 19, 1963.

They had five children, all of whom survive him: One daughter, Beth Ann, and four sons, Michael Lynn, Dennis Boyd, Steven Ray, and Carroll Dee.

Other survivors include his parents, Henry E. and Maria Reimer, now living at Hesston; one brother Edward of Newton; and four sisters, Olga (Mrs. Irvin Friesen) of Whitewater, Edna (Mrs. Otto Eck) of rural Newton, Annie (Mrs. Loren Fulk) of Hesston, and Irma (Mrs. Howard Wiebe) of Newton.

Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. Paul L. Goering, in the Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church on Oct. 12, 1963.
