Well Known Manitoba Chuch Leader Dies

Steinbach, Man. — Rev. David P. Reimer, well-known leader in the Evangelical Mennonite Church of Canada (formerly Kleingemeinde), died here July 2 at the age of 69. He had been ill with cancer for 11 months.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Blumenort Evangelical Mennonite Church where he had served as bishop for over 15 years, retiring in January of this year. He had been an ordained minister for 34 years.

A native of the Blumenort district, Bishop Reimer operated his own farm for many years. For several years he was moderator of the Evangelical Mennonite Conference. He traveled extensively in connection with his church work, including several trips to Mexico in the interest of colonization. He represented his conference at the Mennonite World Conference in Basel, Switzerland in 1952.

Surviving are his wife, Justina, eight children and a number of grandchildren.
