ANNIE REIMER

Annie Reimer, daughter of Nicholas and Liebe Reimer, was born on June 21, 1892, in Jansen, Neb. Here she spent her childhood days and also attended the rural school. In 1907 she moved with her parents to Minneola, Kansas. It was here that she recognized her lost condition and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour. She was baptized Oct. 4, 1908, by Rev. Esau of Inman, Kansas, and united with the Krimmer Mennonite Brethren Church.

In 1912 she moved with her parents to Reedley, Calif. where they settled on a farm and united with the M. B. Church for fellowship. Here at Reedley she continued to live and carry on her work until the Lord called her home.

Our sister was a tenderhearted, Christ-devoted Christian who recognized her call in life as serving others. When our mother passed away in 1926 she assumed the responsibility of caring for the family. Her father, in a diary, has left a written testimony of her faithfulness in caring for her mother as well as her sister Carolina. During the illness of our father she also faithfully stood by, assuming the responsibility in the home. Since the passing of our father she had lived with her sister, Mrs. Maria Byrd, on the farm near Dinuba. We, her sisters and brothers, can testify to the fact that she was a wonderful inspiration, continually pointing us to the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a devoted member of the church an attended regularly.

Our sister enjoyed comparatively good health. Though she was bothered by high blood pressure some time ago, this had been taken care of and she was happy in her work. On Saturday, May 30, 1959, she was on duty packing fruit for the market when the Master called her without notice. She reached the age of 66 years, 11 months, and nine days. We rejoice to know that we shall meet her again.

Those who remain to mourn her sudden departure are the following: two brothers, Nick Reimer of Santa Clara, Calif. and Fred Reimer of Carmen, Okla.; five sisters, Liebe, Mrs. Wiens of San Jose, Calif., Katie, Mrs. Nickel of Reedley, Helen, Mrs. Carson of Boviena [sic Bovina], Texas; Pearl, Mrs. Cornelsen of Dinuba, and Marie, Mrs. Byrd of Dinuba; one uncle, John Reimer of Kansas City, Kansas; three aunts, Mrs. Marie Mack of Reedley, Mrs. Sine [sic Justina “Cina”] Warkentin of Graften [sic Grafton], Neb., Mrs. Elizabeth Friesen of Beatrice, Neb.; one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law.

Her parents and one sister and one brother preceded her in death.

The funeral was held in the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church on June 3, 1959, with the pastor, Rev. Dan Friesen, officiating. — The Family.
