MRS. JOHN H. REGIER

Mrs. John H. Regier, nee Susie Dick, was born northwest of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, on May 14, 1879. Her beautiful and busy earthly life came to a sudden end on Saturday evening, April 21, 1945.

After a prolonged spiritual struggle she accepted Christ as her Saviour and upon her confession of faith she was baptized of Elder Heirnich Voth on May 30, 1897, becoming a member of the Carson M. B. church. Later, after her marriage, she transferred her membership to the Bethel Mennonite church of Mountain Lake.

On January 14, 1926, she was united in marriage with John H. Regier. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1941. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother.

The keynote of her life was service, which she rendered in the home, in the church and in the community. For 18 years she cared for her widowed mother and later for her husband who became blind and ill toward the close of his life. Int he church she was always an active worker, first as a leader in young people's societies, later as a Sunday School teacher and a mission society leader. She was still active in these capacities at the time of her death.

In the community, the Bethel Hospital and Home for the Aged were always of great interest and concern to her. Not only did she serve there as helper after the death of her mother but later also as an active member of the Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and of the House committee.

In addition to these services she carried on a large personal spiritual ministry, especially among the sick of the community, visiting them in their homes or in the hospital, taking some of them into ther [sic] own home for care during their convalescence.

Her busy life came to a sudden end on Saturday evening, April 21, after a full week of service. Even on Saturday she carried on her usual activities but, not feeling well in the evening, she called for her daughter and for the doctor. They came, but no one realized that the end was as near. She passed into her Sabbath rest on the same evening at 10:00 P.M.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers. Surviving her and mourning her departure are her children: Mr. and Mrs. Peter Wiens of Dalmeny, Sask., Mr. and Mrs. Richard Regier and Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Voth of Mountain Lake, Minn.; one brother, Rev. A. A. Dick and one sister, Mrs. John G. Enns, both of Mountain Lake.

Funeral services were held at the Bethel Mennonite church in Mountain Lake, Minn., on Wednesday, April 25, with Rev. Erland Waltner and Rev. B. J. Braun in charge. A large audience attended.

"Servant of God, well done!
   Rest from thy loved employ;
The battle fought, the victory won,
   Enter thy Master's joy."
