MISS SARAH R. REGIER

Sarah R. Regier, daughter of Jacob and Katherine (Regier) Regier, was born Dec. 9, 1874 near Rudnerweide, South Russia. In 1875 at the age of six months she came to the United States with her parents. The family settled in Harvey County, Kansas, nine miles southwest of Moundridge. She received her education at the Parris School District, and grew to womanhood among the hardships and labors of pioneer life.

With her parents she attended the Hebron Mennonite Church from childhood on, and here and in the family home she learned to know Christ whom she accepted as her personal Savior and Lord. On Sept. 6, 1903 she was baptized upon her personal confession of faith by Elder Bernhard Buhler and became a member of the Hebron Church where she remained a faithful member until her departure from this life. A passage of Scripture that was to hera source of comfort, strength, and hope was Isaiah 53:4-5.

In 1910 her health failed and she submitted to a major operation from which she slowly recovered. She and her sister Maria remained with their aging parents and cared for them during the closing years of their lives. Upon the death of the parents these two sisters remained at the country home. Four years later, in 1928, they moved to Buhler where Sarah made her home for the rest of her years.

Sarah and Maria moved into a new home when they first came to Buhler and here they lived until Maria's death in 1947. The home was then sold and Sarah lived the next seven years with her other sister, Mrs. Cornelius Franz.

In 1945 Sarah had a serious fall and sustained a broken hip which left her somewhat handicapped for the rest of her life. On August 1, 1954 she entered the Sunshine Home of Buhler. In the latter part of December 1961 she again fell.

On March 19, 1962 she peacefully entered into the life beyond. She reached the age of 87 years, three months and 10 days.

Her parents, two brothers, Jacob and Abraham and three sisters, Mrs. AbrahamAraham Siemens, Mrs. Peter Lohrentz, and Maria Regier, preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her departure one brother, John R. Regier and wife; and one sister, Mrs. Cornelius Franz, and 27 nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were conducted on March 22, 1962 at the Hebron Mennonite Church with Rev. O'Ray C. Graber and Rev. J. K. Siemens officiating. She was laid to rest in the Hebron Church cemetery.
