MARIE HUEBERT REGIER

Marie Regier was born Oct. 20, 1897 at Henderson, Neb. to Jacob P. and Agnes Friesen Huebert. She died Feb. 13, 1980 at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home at Grand, Neb. She was 82.

Following her elementary education, she clerked in a dry goods store in Henderson. Early in life she came to know and love the Lord as her savior. She was baptized and joined the Bethesda Mennonite Church at Henderson. In 1927 she moved to western Nebraska with her husband and family. Here she became a charter member of the First Mennonite Church of Madrid.

She was married to Peter A. Regier on June 7, 1916. They adopted a son, Karl William, who died in 1933 at the age of nine. She, together with her husband, found great joy in opening their home to visiting missionaries and ministers. She taught Sunday School classes for young children for many years, and projects of the mission sewing society were dear to her heart. The Bible and prayer time were a vital part of her daily life.

Surviving are five children and their spouses: Pete of Madrid, Herman of Grant, Marian Brundage of Camp Verde, Ariz., Ruth Preheim of Freeman, S.D., and Ivan of Madrid, Neb.; 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Helen (Mrs. Pete) Huebert of Fresno, Calif. and Clara (Mrs. John) Huebert of Bradshaw, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Karl; a son-in-law, Harold Doerksen; a grandson; six brothers and two sisters.
