text of obituary:

MRS. HENRY R. REGIER

Anna Regier was born to John and Anna Claassen Regier on March 22, 1889, at the Regier home place five miles east of Newton. At the age of 17 she was baptized upon her confession of faith and received into the membership of the First Mennonite Church in Newton. During her later youth she stayed with her Grandmother Claassen in Newton to take care of her and finish her schooling. She spoke often of her associations with friends and relatives in Newton during that time.

On Sept. 15, 1910 she joined hands with Herny [sic Henry] R. Regier in holy matrimony. Two sons, Arnold and William, were born in this wedlock. The family resided on a farm east on Elbing until retirement, when they first moved to Elbing and then later to Newton.

During these days of sorrow the bereaved family is experiencing the fruits of her friendly and cheerful disposition. She enjoyed entertaining visitors in her home. She also readily entered into the feelings of those who were in need and always was ready to give a helping hand. Mother thus appreciate the opportunity to participate in the work of her church, both at Elbing and Newton.

On March 11 she entered the Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton, where she underwent surgery. On March 22 she was transferred to the St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, where she died the following day, March 23, 1959.

The departed was preceded in death by her father in her youth, her mother, two brothers, John and Gustav, and her daughter-in-law, Verna.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, two sons, two daughters-in-law, Helen and Elizabeth; two brothers, Ben of Newton, and Gustav of Marthasville, Mo.; three sisters, Elise (Mrs. H. J. Wiebe) of Whitewater, Marie and Helen of Newton; and five grandchildren, Joyce, Paul, Wayne, Phyllis, and Daryl, all of Elbing. Her family circle would include many other friends and relatives. Especially do we think of Mrs. Clara Anderson Winner of Linden, Calif., who often referred to her as her own mother.

Funeral services were conducted at the First Mennonite Church of Newton on Friday, March 27, Rev. Arnold Epp and Rev. H. J. Dyck officiating.
