● Funeral services were held May 9 at Petersen's Funeral Home Chapel for lifelong Newton area resident Alvin t. Regier, 75, who died May 6 at Peabody Memorial Nursing Home. Burial was in the Harder cemetery near Whitewater. Survivors include two brothers, Wilbert of Salem, Ore., and J. J. of Omaha, Neb.; and two sisters, Helen Hanes of Edinburg, Texas, and Elfriede Regier of Topeka.
