MRS. DAVID J. REGEHR

Margaretha (Penner) Regehr, wife of David J. Regehr, and daughter of Heinrich and Marie Penner, was born on a farm near Mt. Lake, Minn. Jan. 20, 1881. She spent her childhood and early youth in the parental home experiencing many of the pioneer hardships.

She was baptized upon her confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ Pentecost, in 1899, by Rev. Heinrich Quiring and accepted into the Bergfelder church, now known as the Gospel Mennonite church.

She was united in Holy matrimony with David J. Regehr on May 13, 1906. On May 13, 1931 she and her husband celebrated their silver wedding anniversary. After living in Mt. Lake for five years, the family settled on various farms, living about ten months in Montana and four years at Inola, Oklahoma.

In 1942 Mr and Mrs. Regehr retired from the farm and made their home in Mt. Lake. Mrs. Regehr transfered her membership to the Bethel church shortly after her marriage and was a member there until her death.

She believed the admonition of the Lord Jesus that it is more blessed to give than receive and throughout all her life she received pleasure in helping other.

On New Year's morning, 1955, she had a stroke and was taken to the Bethel hospital where she received the best of care by Dr. Shutz and the nurses. She recovered to the extent that on May 30 her daughter Hilda, Mrs. P. J. Duerksen, took her into her home. On June 30, at 6:30 p.m. she had another stroke and had to be taken to the Bethel hospital where she departed this life to be with the Lord on July 2, 1955, at the age of 74 years, five months and 12 days. She was the mother of ten children. One daughter preceded her in death in infancy; also five grandchildren went before her into the Beyond.

Surviving are her husband and the following children: Marie and husband, Gerhard Franzen, Canton, Kan.; Hilda and husband, Peter J. Duerksen, Mt. Lake, Minn.; Henry and wife, Mable, Lewisville, Minn.; David D. and wife, Mary, Jefffers, Minn.; Lando and wife, Sara, Butterfield, Minn.; Margaret and husband, John Kliewer, Mt.
