REV. ABRAHAM A. REGEHR

Abraham A. Regehr, 80, of Steinbach, Manitoba, entered into his eternal rest on February 1. He had been in failing health for some time. The funeral was February 5 in the Steinbach Mennonite Brethren Church with Rev. John Reimer and Rev. Henry Regehr officiating.

Abraham Regehr was born May 28, 1887 in South Russia. In 1904 he found peace with God by faith in the atoning blood of Jesus and in the same year was baptized upon his faith and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church. He moved to Canada with his family in 1925, living for a year at Winkler and then moving to Steinbach.

In 1934 Rev. Regehr was ordained to the ministry and in the same year elected as leader of the local Mennonite Brethren congregation. He led the church in this capacity until 1943. Over the years he continued to minister to the needy, especially to those in the hospital and in the Invalid Home.

He is survived by eight daughters, six sons-in-law, 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two brothers, Henry Regehr of Steinbach and Peter Regehr of Russia as well as many other friends and relatives.
