PETER REDIGER

Peter Rediger was born May 14, 1875, in Eureka, Woodford County, Ill., and died at the Seward Memorial Hospital, Seward, Neb. March 24, 1959, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and ten days.

When but a lad of four years he moved with his family to Seward County, where he was educated in a school near Milford, Neb. and grew to manhood. He went to Colorado in 1889, but returned to Milford in 1900.

On Jan. 9, 1902, he was united in marriage to Lena Summers, who was born and reared near Milford. His companion preceded him in death on July 21, 1953, a year following their observance of their 50th wedding anniversary.

To this union were born five children: three daughters, Frieda (Mrs. Ray Stauffer) and Irma (Mrs. Elmer Burkey) of Milford, Lucille (Mrs. Dean Melson [sic Nelson]) of Lincoln, and two sons, Harry E. of Seward, and Clinton of Milford. In addition to these children, Mr. Rediger is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lydia Schrock, Ontario, Calif.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives.

At the age of 28 Mr. Rediger went into the mercantile business. Later he was employed by M. J. Schweitzer. From 1928 to 1932 he was engaged in the hardware business at Beaver Crossing. In 1932 he moved to Milford and opened a hardware store, which he operated until his retirement in 1952.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 27, at 2 p.m. at the Bellwood Mennonite Church in Milford, Rev. Ivan Lind officiating.
