Lillian Ratzlaff

The funeral services for Lillian Ratzlaff, nine year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Ratzlaff, of Hesston, who was fatally burned Friday night were held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Holdeman church north of here.

The little girl died Saturday afternoon at four o'clock about 24 hours after the accident which was the means of her death. The girl, and her younger brother, were at home alone when the child attempted to start a fire about five o'clock Friday evening. The glass jar of kerosene used in starting the fire exploded, igniting her clothes. She dashed to a tank in the barn yard and extinguished the flames and when the father returned home an hour later he found the little girl had removed her burned clothing and gone to bed. She was brought to Bethel hospital where everything possible was done for her but death claimed her Saturday afternoon.

She leaves her parents and one younger brother.

The entire Hesston community was saddened by the awful accident and the death of the little girl.
