— Word has been received here that Mrs. Lena Ratzlaff, age 79, died in Kansas City on Oct. 5. She was born in McPherson County in 1881, and lived in Inman and Garden City until the death of her husband, Peter Ratzlaff, in 1945. She has since resided with her daughter Lena in Kansas City.

MRS. LENA RATZLAFF

Mrs. Lena Ratzlaff was born on Jan. 4, 1881, to Mr. and Mrs. John Neufeld, near Inman, Kan., and passed into the presence of our Lord on Oct. 5 in Kansas City, Mo. She broke her left leg on April 22 of this year and was confined to the bed and wheel chair. On Oct. 4 she suffered a stroke and developed double pneumonia which caused her sudden death.

She was married to Peter F. Ratzlaff on Aug. 4, 1905, at Zoar Mennonite church near Inman. This union was blessed with five children, two sons and three daughters. She accepted Christ as a child and was baptized by John Esau and became a member of the Zoar Mennonite church.

They made their home in Inman until 1926, then moved to Garden City, Kan., where they resided until he died in a car accident on Nov. 17, 1945. Soon after his departure, she moved to Kansas City, Mo., where she made her home with her daughter, Lena, until her death.

She leaves to mourn her departure, five children, Lena Ratzlaff, Mr. and Mrs. John Ratzlaff of Kansas City, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Pete Ratzlaff of Garden City, Kan., Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Wiebe of Hawley, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Davis of Seattle, Wash; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, and one sister-in-law.
