Manitoba Youth Killed When Bus Hits Car

Steinbach, Man. — Funeral services were held at the Evangelical Mennonite Church here Nov. 17 for 16-year-old Ken Peters, who was killed when the light auto he was driving skidded into the path of a Gray Goose bus on No. 12 highway near here.

His companion, Harvey Dyck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jac. N. Dyck, sustained several fractures and internal injuries but is recovering.

It was reported that the two youths were approaching the highway from a graveled side road. When the brakes were applied the car went into a skid on the icy road and shot onto the highway. It was hit broadside by the bus. The 20 passengers were not injured, but the bus was heavily damaged.

The Peters youth was employed by his father, Henry B. Peters, at the Friendly Family Farms turkey ranch south of Vollwerk.
