JOHN HENRY PETERS

John Henry Peters of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away Feb. 9 after a long battle with diabetes. He was born Sept. 13, 1907 to Henry and Agnes Peters in Ukraine. In 1929 he immigrated to Canada with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He met Margaret Klassen in Calgary. They married June 10, 1934 and settled in Acme, Alta. There they both came to a saving knowledge of Christ, were baptized and joined Linden MB Church. God's grace was important to him; he would often say, "Saved by grace, plus nothing." In 1947 they moved to Sardis, B.C. and joined Greendale MB Church. Margaret died in 1989. He moved to Tabor Home, Abbotsford, in 1990. His family was important to him; he enjoyed visits from his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He continued to read his Bible and trust the Lord as his health began to fail. As long as his health allowed, he enjoyed helping the other residents of Tabor Home, bowling and taking part in other competitive activities. Predeceased by Margaret and an infant child, he is mourned by children John of Langley, B.C., Wally of Duncan, B.C., Ray of Surrey, B.C., Henry of Chilliwack, B.C., Kay Rempel of Chilliwack; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 1 sister and 1 brother. The funeral was Feb. 14 in Greendale MB Church, Chilliwack, with Peter Dueck ministering.
