ANNA DALKE PETERS

Anna Dalke Peters was born on Nov. 25, 1882, at Hillsboro, Kansas to Cornelius and Katherine Dalke, and departed this life at the Monroe General hospital, Monroe, Wash., on March 4, 1960.

She spent part of her early childhood in Kansas. While she was still young her parents moved to Washita county, Okla. where she attended school and grew to young womanhood. The family pioneered, broke the sod, and planted crops for their livelihood. They attended church services at Shelly, where the early Mennonite settlers gathered to worship.

On June 5, 1902 she was married to John J. Peters at the Shelly church. Later they placed their membership with the Bergthal Mennonite church near Corn, Okla. To this union were born 11 children, of whom two died in infancy.

In 1918 the John J. Peters family moved to Morden, Manitoba, where they resided until 1923, when they again returned to Washita county, Okla. to resume farming.

In 1928, the family moved to Madrid, Neb., but still seeking for a better livelihood, they made the change to Peetz, Colo., where they lived for one year. In the fall of 1932 they came to Monroe, Wash. where they have resided for the past 28 years. For the past two years, since the sale of their farm, they have lived in the city of Monroe.

She was a charter member of the Country Mennonite church, remaining a faithful member until her departure to be with her Lord.

Mother Peters became ill about six months ago and during the last several months was a hospital patient most of the time.

She was a kind and loving mother, a sincere Christian, loving and serving the Lord. We do not sorrow as without hope, for we know that someday we shall meet again.

Two sons preceded her in death, Cornelius, the eldest, passed away Jan. 7, 1938, and Ernest died of injuries in Germany on April 17, 1945, during World War II.

Those who remain to mourn her departure are her husband, a resident of the nursing home of the Monroe General hospital; four sons, Rev. John M. Peters of Fairbanks, Alaska, Albert of Pocatello, Idaho, Menno of Rt. I. Monroe, and Henry of Monoe; three daughters, Matilda, Mrs. Ray E. Albrecht, Katherine, Mrs. Edwin Friesen of American Falls, Idaho, and Mrs. Hulda Brokofsky of Killarney, Manitoba; one sister, Mrs. Peter J. Quiring of Dallas, Oregon; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Four brothers, Cornelius, Albert, Gustav and David Dalke, and one sister, Mrs. Katherine Klassen, preceded her in death. She also leaves a host of friends and relatives who mourn her sudden departure.

Memorial services were held at Purdy and Kerr chapel of Monroe on March 8, 1960, with Rev. Norman D. Bergen officiating. Interment was made at the IOOF cemetery near Monroe. — The Children.
