— Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Penner, 70, a lifelong resident of Harvey county, was held Wednesday afternoon at the Gnadenberg church, Rev. H. E Miller officiating. Mrs. Penner died Saturday afternoon at the Bethel Deaconess hospital when she had been a patient since Thursday. Her husband, Isaac Penner, died in 1947. Surviving are a son, Menno Penner, and one daughter, Mrs. Ben Schmidt, both of Route 2, Whitewater, and a sister, Mrs. Katie Voth of Hesston.

MRS. MARGARET PENNER

Mrs. Margaret Penner, daughter of Peter H. and Anna Harms Nickel, was born September 5, 1881, in Pleasant township, Harvey county, Kansas, and passed away at the Bethel Deaconess hospital, Saturday, April 26, 1952, having suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. She attained the age of 70 years, seven months and 21 days.

On May 25, 1896, she was baptized upon her confession of faith in Christ and received into the membership of the Gnadenberg church, of which she remained a faithful member until her death.

On September 18, 1902, she was united in marriage to Isaac Penner who preceded her in death by five years. Two children, Menno and Clara, came to bless their home. Mr. and Mrs. Penner shard the joys and sorrows of life together for 44 years and seven months.

Her life was spent on a farm in the community in which she was born until her husband passed away on April 19, 1947. Since that time she had made her home in Newton. For the last two months she stayed at the Spangler home in Newton.

She took active part in church work a a Sunday School teacher, in the women's mission society, and in the Christian Endeavor society.

She leaves to mourn her departure her son Menno and wife Amelia, her daughter Clara and husband Ben Schmidt, six grandchildren, one great grandchild, one sister, Mrs. Katie Voth, a sister-in-law, Mrs. P. P. Nickel, eleven nieces and ten nephews. Her parents, two sisters and two brothers precede her in death.

Funeral services were held on April 30, 1952, at the Gnadenberg Mennonite church.
