— Mrs. Katherine Dalke Penner, wife of the late Rev. H. D. Penner, died at the Bethel deaconess Hospital last Sunday morning, Jan.16. Mrs. Penner had lived with her daughter at Sedgwick, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Niles, but because of her serious condition was brought to the hospital here on Dec. 30. She was only a few months less than 80 years old. Her husband,who died in October, 1933, was a widely known minister in General Conference circles and for a time was also a teacher at Bethel College. She is survived by the following 11 children: Sister Anna Gertrude Penner, of the Bethel Deaconess Hospital; Mrs. E. R. Friesen, Tuscon [sic Tucson], Ariz.; D. D. Penner, Trenton, Nebr.; Mrs. J. J. R. Claassen, Beatrice, Nebr.; Mrs. H. J. Nickel, Wichita; A. H. Penner; Hillsboro; Mrs. Walter E. Niles, Sedgwick; Mrs. J. M Dirks, Wichita; W. H. Penner, Arkansas City, Mrs. E. W. Haury, Tuscon [sic Tucson], Ariz.; and Mrs. A. L. Miller, Partridge. All of the children were here for the funeral which was held Tuesday, Jan. 18. Brief memorial services took place in the chapel of the Bethel Home for Aged, after which the body was taken to Hillsboro, where further services were held at the First Mennonite church. The services here were conducted by Rev. D. C. Wedel of Halstead, while at Hillsboro Rev. H. T. Unruh, pastor of the Hillsboro church was in charge.
