KATHERINA (KAETHE) PENNER

Kaethe Penner died Mar. 1. She was born May 26, 1906 in Deyevka, Orenburg, Russia. The family moved to Alexandrovka, Slavgorod. Her mother died when Kaethe was 5. Her father married Sarah Janzen. Kaethe accepted Jesus as her Saviour, claiming Eph. 6:16, and later joined the church. The family moved to Minsk, White Russia. She, together with her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, was imprisoned for 8 years. This was a testing time for her. She remained faithful. The surviving family members found each other in Russia, moving to Tsily-Kuly and joining the church. In 1959 she and her sister moved to Karaganda, again joining the church. Kaethe taught Sunday school. After the war she located her younger sisters in Canada and immigrated to Abbotsford. She worked and lived at Tabor Home. She is mourned by sisters Helen Rewnow and Renate Ruppert. The funeral was Mar. 4 in Clearbrook MB Church.
