KATHARINA PENNER

(Mrs.) Katherina Penner was born October 30, 1888, in Orloff, Sagradowka, South Russia, the first child of Peter and Helen Martens. From earliest childhood she was instructed in the Word of God and the way of salvation. She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior in her childhood and in her 18th year was baptised upon her faith.

In October 31, 1909 she was married to Heinrich C. Penner. For 56 years they shared blessings and sorrows until her husband went to be with the Lord on October 28, 1965. The Lord blessed their union with five sons and three daughters.

In 1924 the emigrated to Canada and settled on a farm near Swift Current, Sask. In 1942 they moved to Yarrow, B.C., where she resided until her death.

Her strength of character and determination and faith in God helped her through difficult times. After the death of her husband she was very lonely and often expressed the desire to go home. On March 3 she quietly passed on to her eternal reward.

She is mourned by five sons, three daughters, five daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, 35 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on March 15 in the Yarrow Church. Rev. H. Thielman and Rev. Hugo Jantz officiated.
