JAKOB PENNER

Jakob Penner was born in South Russia on November 29, 1882, and went to be with the Lord on October 22, 1965, after a short illness. He was converted at the age of 23 and a few years later was baptized and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church upon his confession of faith.

In 1909 he was married to Maria Wiebe, the Lord blessing their marriage with five children. In 1925 the Penner family moved from Russia to Carman, Manitoba, where they farmed for many years. At the end of the war they moved to Ontario settling at Vineland. Mrs. Penner passed away in 1960.

The funeral was in the Vineland Mennonite Brethren Church, October 27, with Rev. John M. Schmidt and Rev. H. P. Wiebe ministering. He is survived by three daughters, Marie at home, (Mrs. Henry (Katie) Wiebe of St, Catharines, and Mrs. Abe (Ann) Toews of Carman; and two sons, Jake of St. Catharines and John of RR 1, Jordan Station, Ont.
