— Relatives here received word that Henry P. Penner of Ingalls, Kan. died suddenly on Friday, Nov. 3. He was a brother of Mrs. George Reiss and a brohter-in-law of John E. Gaede, both of Newton.

HENRY PETER PENNER

Henry Peter Penner, son of Abraham and Wilhelmina Funk Penner, was born Jan. 12, 1896 in South Russia. In early childhood he came with his parents to the United States. They located in Marion County, Kan. where they remained a number of years. Later they moved to Syracuse and Meade, Kansas. In 1921 he moved to Gray County and started farming north of Ingalls, Kansas.

On Aug. 24, 1924 he was united in marriage with Edna Gaede. This union was blessed with two sons and one daughter.

He responded to the inward workings of the Holy Spirit and received Christ as his personal Saviour in January 1925. The following June he was baptized and became a member of the Ingalls Mennonite Brethren Church. He served his Lord and the church in the spirit of joy and faith, demonstrating a great interest and concern for missions.

In 1949 he was elected as deacon and served faithfully in that capacity until his death. He also served many years as assistant leader of the church and taught in the Sunday school. Because of his strong interest in the education of young people he enjoyed serving on the board of education of the public school.

He last few months he worked diligently and with anticipation on the church building, getting it ready for the dedication at its new location in Cimarron. However, the Lord called him home before the dedication day. On Nov. 3 while he was working on the church yard, leveling the ground with the tractor, he suffered a severe heart attack and passed away to be with his Lord and Saviour, reaching the age of 65 years, nine months, and 21 days.

He leaves to mourn his wife, two sons, one daughter, nine grandchildren and one sister.

The memorial services were held in the Cimarron Mennonite Brethren Church on Nov. 7, 1961 with Rev. David Piett and Rev. David J. Wiens officiating.
