text of obituary:

GEORGE J. PENNER

George J. Penner, son of John and Helena Dick Penner, was born October 7, 1902, in Hamilton county, Nebraska. He spent his entire life on the home farm.

On June 8 1924, he was baptized upon his confession of faith by Elder H. H. Epp and received as a member into the Bethesda Mennonite church, where he remained a faithful member to the end. He was united in marriage with Sarah Dirks on Dec. 31, 1947. They enjoyed five years of wedded life. His parents, two sisters, and two brothers preceded him in death.

George was never very strong physically and during the past year his health began to fail. During the last three weeks he became seriously ill and passed away on Friday afternoon, May 22, 1953. He reached the age of 50 years, seven months, and 15 days. He was very diligent in caring for his mother while she was still with us. He was kind and considerate and patient in his suffering. Knowing that he would not recover, he felt that he was ready to go to his heavenly home.

He leaves to mourn: his wife; two sisters, Anna, Mrs. Henry B. Ediger, York, Nebr.; Lena, Mrs. John C. Quiring; one brother, John; one sister-in-law, Agnes, Mrs. John Penner; two brothers-in-law, Henry B. Ediger, and John C. Quiring; two aunts; six nieces; two nephews; and many relatives and friends. — Mrs. George J. Penner.
