Early Settler Died At Hutchinson

Hutchinson, Kans. — Funeral services for Claas Penner, 85, a resident of Hutchinson for the past 25 years, took place at the Volkland chapel Thursday, Aug. 30, with Rev. Victor Sawatzky officiating. He passed away here Aug. 27.

Mr. Penner came to this country from Russia, the land of his birth, and settled near Inman, Kansas, later moving to Burrton. He was a member of the Burrton Mennonite church, and burial was made in the Burrton cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helena L. Penner; three daughters, Mrs. Justina Newman of Arlington. Calif., Mrs. Sarah Ritterhouse of Chanute and Mrs. Helen Ball, Lamed; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
