One-Car Accident Claims Life of Whitewater Woman

Whitewater, Kan. — A one-car accident south of here on the Andover Road Sunday night claimed the life of Mrs. Bertha Marie Penner, 79, of Whitewater.

She was a passenger in the car driven by her husband, Kurt Penner, when it left the highway and crashed into a cement abutment at an overpass. Mr. Penner was taken to Wesley Hospital in Wichita, but his injuries are not believed to be serious.

Funeral services for Mrs. Penner will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Emmaus Mennonite Church, with Rev. L. R. Amstutz officiating.

Surviving in addition to her husband are sons Rudolph H. of Peabody and Paul H. of Hesston; two daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Wilson of Baltimore, Md. and Mrs. Hilda Ray of Winfield, Kan.; two brothers and two sisters.
