Farm Accident Takes The Life of a Father Near East Petersburg, Penna.

Belleville, Pa., Dec. 2. — Two small boys saw their father killed one day last week when a corn--shredding machine blew to pieces on a farm near East Petersburg, Pa.

The victim was Christian S. Peifer, 42, who was killed instantly while his assistant, Elmer K. Kreider, 43 was injured. Peifer's sons, Christian, Jr., 5, and Glen, 7, and anotehr boy, Earl Seigrist, 15 were near, but fortunately escaped injury.

The governor of the shredder stuck and caused the machine to pick up speed. As Kreider reached to turn off the power the machine blew to pieces. A fragment struck Peifer on the head. he fell dead. Kreider's arm was broken when a gasoline tank on the engine toppled from its mountings and fell upon him. — Belleville Times.
