SMALL CHILD DROWNED IN COOLING VAT AT PENNSYLVANIA FARM HOME

Belleville, Pa., Sept. 11. — On last Thursday afternoon, a most unfortunate and fatal accident befell Mary, the year and one half old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan C. Peachey a few miles north of Belleville.

The child was playing in the house used for cooling the farm milk supply, and accidentally fell into the vat, where the milk was cooled, in which the water was about fourteen inches deep. Her lifeless body was found by Miss Miriam Peachey who had charge of the home while Mr. and Mrs. Peachey with other friends were on a visit to Canada. The parents of the child arrived home a few hours after the accident.

Surviving are her parents and six sisters and one brother, namely, Lydia, Bertha, Arie, Nannie, Olive, Martha and Mahlon, all at home.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at one o'clock at the farm home conducted by Preachers Enos Kurtz and John Y. Peachey. Burial was in the Mennonite cemetery near the Locust Grove Church.

An odd coincidence is that about a year ago, a small child of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Spicher who resided on a neighboring farm was drowned under very similar circumstances.
