Father of Two Meets Instant Death When Struck by Steel Beam

Belleville, Pa. — A construction accident on the new mall in downtown Lewistown on Jan. 18 claimed the life of Donald D. Peachey, 33, of rural Belleville.

Mr. Peachey, a job superintendent for J. M. Young and Sons, Belleville construction firm, was on a ladder directing the placing of a steel beam when the beam slipped and knocked him to the pavement. The beam then fell on him, and he died instantly. It was the first accident since the redevelopment program began in Lewistown.

Surviving are his widow, the former Helen Hostetler, and children Douglas and Jacquelyn of the home; his father, Joseph L. Peachey, and step-mother of rural Belleville; one brother and five sisters.

Mr. Peachey was a member of the Maple Grove Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held Jan. 21 at Baggus Funeral Home here, with Rev. Samuel Glick and Rev. Geo. C. Virchick Jr. officiated.
