Father and Son Suffer Fatal Injuries in Accident At Their Farm Home.

Belleville, Pa., July 16. — On last Thursday afternoon a fatal and most distressing accident occurred to Mr. Jonas J. Peachey and his son, Alvin, on their farm East of Belleville near Union Mills. Father and son were engaged in hauling the wheat crop into the barn, and an incline in the lane necessitated the locking of the wagon. the son was on the load of grain driving the team and the father was in the rear locking, when a sheaf of grain fell off the load, striking one of the horses which caused the team to bolt. The father ran around the wagon to stop the team but was knocked down and trampled by the horses, and the wagon wheel passed over his chest which in a few minutes brought death.

The son in trying to control the frightened horses, fell from and in front of the wagon, a wheel of which passed over his body also. The wife and mother seeing the team come to the barn and knowing something unusual had happened went tot he lane and found her husband and son. The husband spoke a few words to his wife and then succumbed in the grass along side the lane.

The son was conscious but helpless and word was sent for a physician and Dr. Helfrick came and took the boy to the Lewistown hospital where his wounds were dressed and every hospital comfort given, but with all that medical skill could give his life could not be saved and death relieved his suffering on Saturday evening.

Funeral services for the father were held in the Peachey barn on Saturday morning at 9:00 o'clock and were largely attended by bereaved relatives and sympathetic friends, the estimated attendance being 750 persons. The services were in charge of Rev. Enos Kurtz and Rev. John B. Peachey. The pall bearers were John S. Yoder, Samuel Spicher, Rufus Kanagy and John J. Zook.

The services for the son were held Monday at 1 P. M. and brought together again at the Peachey barn a multitude of sorrowing friends. — Belleville Times.
