Marianne Pauls

Marianne Pauls, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cor. Pauls, was born January 14, in McPherson county, Kan. In her short stay with her parents she brought such joy and sunshine into the home. From her infancy on she had been a healthy child, and enjoyed playing with her brothers and sister. She had just begun to show interest in the Sunday School, which she attended for the first time after the New Year at Groveland, Kansas.

But her stay here was suddenly broken. Why she so often sang the song: "Jesus Loves me this I Know," we could not understand. but she sang it often while she played. Jesus said: "Suffer the little children to come unto me for such is the Kingdom of heaven." She believed that Jesus loved her. We know she is safe in the arms of Him who called her.

On January 10, she became sick with the disease often known as Trench-mouth. The doctors soon checked this and she was getting well again. But on February 1 she contracted a cold which developed into croup and later into bronchial pneumonia. She was taken to the hospital in McPherson, but to no avail. On Wednesday, she grew very ill and on Thursday, 30 minutes before twelve o'clock at night, she passed from us to be forever with her Savior, Jesus Christ.

She leaves to mourn her, for us to [sic] early death, her parents, one brother, Lester Dale, and one sister, Dona [sic Donna] Lou. Also her grandmother, Mrs. Klaass [sic Klaas] Dick of Buhler, Kans. and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Pauls and a host of relatives and friends.

She reached the age of three years and twenty days.Sleep on, beloved, sleep and take thy rest; Lay down they head on thy Saviors breast. We love thee well but Jesus lvoes thee best. — The parents, brother and sister.

Rev. Kaiser of McPherson served at the funeral service at the home of the parents. Rev. A. J. Dyck had charge at the church, assisted by Rev. C. H. Voth and Rev. A. M. Gaeddert.

The Inman City Quartet served with special music, while Martha G. Unruh played the organ.

Interment in the Hoffnugsau cemetery.
