ISAAC N. PAULS

Isaac N. Pauls, son of John J. and Susanna (Neufeld) Pauls, was born May 6, 1902 on a farm southwest of Inman, Kansas. Here he received his elementary education, and also some high school training at what was then known as Zoar Academy in his home town.

In 1921 he moved with his parents to Perryton, Texas. On June 7, 1925 he was married to Sarah L. Fast of Medford, Okla. and together they established their home on a farm near Perryton. In 1934, due to severe drought they moved to Dallas, Oregon, where he took up carpentry as a trade.

In 1943 he joined the Grace Mennonite Church of Dallas, Oregon, where he remained a faithful member until the time of his death, serving for many years as Sunday school teacher and church board member.

His health began to fail about a year ago. On Sunday, March 3, he was taken to the hospital from which he went to his reward the same day, having reached the age of 60 years, 10 months and 27 days. His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his beloved wife, five children, Mildred (Mrs. Robert Wiens) of Mali in Africa, Rogene (Mrs. Ferdinand Fast) of Congo in Africa. Ruby (Mrs. Emil Krahn) of Delft, Minn., Marvin of Salem, Oregon, and Verda (Mrs. Walter Unruh) of Delft, Minn.; two sisters, Agnes, Mrs. Jake Sawatzky of Weatherford, Okla. and Susie of Minneola, Kan.; two brothers, Jacob of Minneola, Kan. and Peter of Big Bow, Kan.; and 14 grandchildren.

He was always a cheerful and devoted husband and father. His interest in missions was a real source of encouragement to all the family.
