Tragedy At Vancouver, B. C.

THREE MEMBERS OF DAVID H. PAULS FAMILY FOUND SLAIN IN THEIR HOME

Vancouver, B. C. — It was announced that funeral services for the David H. Pauls family, who were brutally murdered in their home here on June 10, would be held Saturday, June 21, at the Mennonite Brethren church in Clearbrook, B. C.

The terrible tragedy came as a great shock not only to relatives and friends but to the whole of western Canada.

Pauls, 53, his wife Helen, 43, and their 11-year-old daughter Dorothy were apparently killed with a blunt weapon, although the husband and wife also had two bullet holes in the head. The body of Mrs. Pauls lay near the front door, while the body of Mr. Pauls had been dragged into the basement. The daughter was found dead in bed.

It is believed that the crime was committed sometime around midnight, shortly after Mrs. Pauls returned home from work. Pauls had probably met her at the bus station, as he was accustomed to do.

At latest report, the murderer had not yet been found nor a motive established for the crime. Vancouver authorities, together with private groups, have posted a $14,000 award for the identification and apprehension of the murderer.
