CHARLES GABRIEL PAIN

Charles Gabriel Pain of Edmonton, Alberta passed away August 14. He was born June 29, 1929 to Percy and Elizabeth Pain in Toronto. He married Marlene Card in 1954 and graduated from University of Toronto as a mechanical engineer in 1955. He began working for Canadian National Railway in 1955 and had an early retirement in 1987. He was transferred to several cities by the company, including Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg and, since 1965, Edmonton. In 1975, he married Elvira Siemens Riediger. His early retirement and good health gave him the opportunity to become active in the church facilities committee at Lendrum MB Church, fund-raising for MCC and occasional consulting for Edmonton Recycling Society. His retirement years were also a time when he grew spiritually, demonstrated by his care and concern for others and his appreciation for the church. He will be missed for his creative technical skills, his love of life and his optimism. He is survived by wife Elvira; children Cathy of Vancouver, David and Chris of Edmonton, and Janine Pudde of Edmonton; step-daughters Lisa Ryder of Toronto and Kalyn Falk of Winnipeg; four grandchildren and two sisters. The funeral was August 17, 1991 in Lendrum MB Church, with Herb Kopp ministering.
