KATE LEONA OWENS

Kate Leona Owens (nee Rogers) was born March 19, 1880 in Bruce Mission, Ont. In 1913 she married Arthur Owens. They came west to the Rossduff, Sask. district where they lived until 1950 when they retired to the village of Lucky Lake. Mrs. Owens died in the local hospital on December 14, 1973 at the age of 93 years. The last years of her life had been spent in much sickness and suffering.

Mrs. Owens received Christ as her Saviour and was baptized in the Alliance Church while a teenager in California. She became a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church shortly after moving to Lucky Lake.

Mrs. Owens was predeceased by her husband in 1965 and by one son, Allan, in 1944. She is survived by four daughters: Ruth, Toronto; Evelyn and Norma, Lucky Lake; Pauline, Debden, Sask.; 16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters.

The funeral was held on December 17 in the Lucky Lake MB Church. Pastor Ed Giesbrecht and Rev. Alvin Penner of Main Centre officiated.
