WILLIAM OSWALD

William Oswald was born to Jacob O. and Margaret Oswald on June 14, 1888, near Hopedale, Ill., and passed away Oct. 21, 1946, at the age of 58 years, four months, and seven days.

About 51 years ago he came to Nebraska with his parents. He was baptized and received into the Mennonite church in his youth, which faith he held to the time of his death. In February, 1909, he was united in marriage with Mattie Erb of O'Neill, Nebraska. Nine children were born to them, of whom eight survive, one son having passed away infancy.

The children are: Harold Oswald of Hesston, Kansas; Dan Oswald of Kouts, Ind.; Edna, Mrs. Willard Schweitzer, of Albany, ore.; Margaret, Mrs. Reuben Schantz, of Beemer, Nebraska; Robert Oswald of West Point, Nebraska; Arthur Oswald of Pomeroy, Iowa; Bertha, Mrs. Delma Nitzsche, of Bancroft, Nebr.; and Doris of West Point, Nebraska. He is also survived by eight brothers, Jacob W., Peter O., Joseph R., Dan, Ben, Amos, Reuben and Sam, and three sisters, Mrs. C. K. Erb (Barbara), Mrs. John K. Erb (Lena), and Mrs. Chris Schantz (Elizabeth). He also leaves a number of grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Reuben Schantz, at Beemer and from the Mennonite church with Bro. William R. Eicher of Milford, Nebraska, and Bro. Dan Birky of the home congregation officiating.

We mourn not as those who have no hope, and we humbly submit to God's will. He doeth all things well. — The Family.
