Former Hesston Dean Dies at Goshen, Ind.

Goshen, Ind. — Walter E. Oswald, 71, former dean of Hesston College at Hesston, Kan., died at his home here May 24. Death followed a five-month illness of cancer.

A graduate of Goshen Academy and Goshen College, Mr. Oswald taught in high schools for a number of years, including 17 years at Youngstown, Ohio. He also taught at Eastern Mennonite College and was associated with Hesston College for nine years. He and Mrs. Oswald moved here eight years ago, and during these years he has taught part time at Goshen College.

Funeral services were arranged for Sunday afternoon at the Goshen College Mennonite Church, with Robert Detweiler, Sanford C. Yoder and Edwin Yoder officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Nora; two daughters, Mrs. Ray Bair of Louisville, Ohio and Mrs. Lowell Schrock of Mishawaka, Ind.; one son, Charles Evan Oswald, athletic director at Hesston College; and five grandchildren.
