JACOB EARL NORRIS

Jacob Earl Norris was born in Huntington county, Pennsylvania, Jan. 21, 1880, to Benjamin J. and Mary Ann Fink. He passed to his eternal reward on August 11, 1955, after an illness of about six weeks. He had been in failing health for several months.

He was baptized upon his confession of faith as a young man and was received into the fellowship of the Topeka Mennonite church in 1907. He remained a member of this church until his death.

In 1906 he was married to Elta May Mehl. On July 23 of this year they observed their 49th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Norris came to Indiana in his early childhood and lived in LaGrange and Elkhart counties the remainder of his life. Most of this time he was on the home farm west of LaGrange.

He leaves to mourn him his beloved wife, Elta May; five children, Lucinda Ann Schermerhorn of Hudson, Mich ., Walter Mehl of Howe, Ind., Linton Gerald and Milburn Otis of LaGrange, Ind., and Nedra Louise Wolf of Leonidas, Mich. He is also survived by one sister, Belva, and eleven grandchildren. One brother, D. C. Norris, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the Topeka Mennonite church on Sunday afternoon, August 14, at 2:30 P. M., with Rev. Orlin F. Frey in charge assisted by Rev. Norris Hunsberger. Burial was in Forest Grove cemetery.
