TWO-YEAR-OLD LANCASTER COUNTY CHILD DROWNS IN WATERING TROUGH

Smoketown, Pa. — A two-year-od [sic] child drowned recently in a watering trough, just 20 yards from the stable where his parents were milking cows, unaware of the tragedy.

The little boy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ammon Nolt of the East Earl community, on previous occasions had seen his father drinking from a pipe through which water flows into the trough. It is believed the child crawled up on the edge of the trough to drink, lost his balance and fell in. He was found about 15 minutes later, and artificial respiration was of no avail.

Funeral services were held at the Weaverland Mennonite Church.
