MRS. BARBARA NITSCHE

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Feb. 23, at 1:30 from the home for Mrs. Barbara Nitzsche, who passed away Feb. 20 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leonard Erb, West Point, Nebraska. Rev. Milo Kauffman officiated at the home and Rev. Sam Oswald, assisted by Milo Kauffman, was in charge of the rites at the Mennonite church near Beemer, Nebraska. Burial was in the Beemer cemetery.

Mrs. Nitzsche was born Oct. 28, 1874, in New Orleans to Peter and Anna (Eichelberger) Oswald. When a child she moved with her parents to Hopedale, Ill., and later to Fulda, Minn. She was married November 22, 1890, to Julius Nitzsche, who preceded her in death almost 17 years ago.

Surviving her are five daughters and four sons: Emma, (Mrs. J. W. Birky), Spartansburg, Pa., Anna, (Mrs. Wm. Egli), Manson, Ia., Bertha, Hesston, Kansas, Clara, (Mrs. Sam Roth), Wisner, Nebr., Lillian, (Mrs. Leonard Erb), West Point, Nebr., Daniel and Arthur, Bancroft, Nebr., Albert, Amenia, N. D., Elmer, Frazee, Minn; also 33 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren children [sic].

She was the youngest of a family of six and the last one of the family to depart this life. Her health had been failing for sometime and the last four weeks she had been confined to her bed. She was a patient sufferer and did not want to be a burden to anyone. Her daughter, Mrs. Egli, and son Elmer took care of her during the last few weeks of her life. She was ready and waiting for the Lord to call her home.
