OLDEST AMISH MINISTER WEST OF MISSISSIPPI PASSES TO HIS REWARD

Partridge, Kansas — Funeral services for Dan A. Nisly, 77, believed to be the oldest Amish minister west of the Mississippi, took place at his home on Wednesday, August 7. Bishops Edwin Harshberger, J. H. Miller, Ira Nisly and Pre. W. W. Wagler had charge of the services.

Pre. Nisly was one of the first Amish settlers in Reno county, coming here in July of 1883 and locating five miles northeast of Partridge. he was ordained to the ministry in 1907 and served faithfully until nine months ago, when he suffered a stroke which affected his speech.

He is survived by his wife, four sons and four daughters. Two sons, Levi D. Nisly of Hutchinson and Fred Nisly of Kalona, Iowa, are also ministers.
